History
Chapel In The Pines was founded in 1980 by Jake and Pat Bliesner.  They ran the business for only a short time when Jake Bliesener died in 1985.   At that time, his wife Pat took over the management. She managed the funeral home for 22 years with the help and assistance of Bill Sherman.   In 1993, Larry Skinner began working for Pat as the funeral director while operating the Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids along with his wife Jill and father Max Skinner. 

In 2007, Larry and Jill’s two sons, Nathan and Jonathan, graduated from Worsham Mortuary College in Chicago.  They fulfilled their apprentice requirements by working in both Chapel In the Pines and the Skinner Funeral Home.  About the same time, the boys passed their State and Federal Boards, Pat was ready to retire and sell the business. With three licensed directors it was an excellent opportunity for the Skinners to purchase the funeral home.  In October of 2007, the Skinner Family took over Chapel in the Pines as the new owners.
